"Bahram-e Gur region, the main habitat of the Iranian zebra"
In the east of Fars province, there is a protected area called Bahram-e Gur, which is the main habitat of the Iranian zebra. This area is one of the best and most valuable natural habitats in Iran due to its diverse animal and plant species.
This area is also the habitat of one of the most special birds in the world, the ground jay, this beautiful bird lives only in Iran and is considered an endemic species of Iran. Other valuable animals and birds such as Jabir and Hubare live in Bahram-e Gur area.
This large area has an area of 40,8017 hectares and consists of two parts of Qatruye National Park and Bahram-e Gur Protected Area.
Since this area is known as a unique habitat and the Iranian zebra lives in it, it is very important, and this is the reason why the western part of the area became a national park in 1368.
In recent years, due to the efforts of environmentalists, the number of zebras has multiplied.
Zebra have been present in the plains since ancient Iran and are mentioned in the poems of Ferdowsi and Khayyam.
Once the Zebra lived in all the plains of the central plateau of Iran, but today its habitat is limited to only a few places, one of the risk factors and extinction of the Zebra can be mentioned mining in protected areas and habitats.
There are many endemic animal species in Iran, among which, the ground jay is the only bird. An animal or plant species that is only found in a specific and limited area and does not live in other geographical areas is called endemic or native. The ground jay is a unique bird that lives only in the deserts of the Iranian plateau and is known as a symbol of Kerman province.
Although our country is famous for its variety of birds, the ground jay is the only bird that has no other habitat except Iran. This issue has caused more attention in tourism and bird watching to this kind of animal.
The population of Jabir is scattered in the desert and semi-steppe areas of the central border and Lut Desert from Turan Protected Area to Kavir National Park, Yazd Province, South Fars, Kerman and Hormozgan, throughout the coastal areas of the south to Sistan and Baluchistan.
Jabir is of particular importance due to its rarity, the main difference between Jabir and deer is its thin and long horns, Jabir are shy animals. They get upset and nervous about the presence of humans in their habitat and are extremely afraid of humans. They can survive without water for a long time and get enough fluids from plants and dew; Therefore, they are adapted to live in very dry areas.
Unlike the deer, which only the male has horns, both males and females have horns, and their ears and tails are usually longer than those of the deer. Hamga Island is one of the areas where Jubeir lives; But you have to be very lucky to be able to see them because they are very elusive and can run at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
