The most popular one is off-road in desert. There are two nominated desert in Iran: Dasht Kavir and Lut desert.
These two deserts are the central desert of Iran and they have a fabulous location for fans of safari in desert. Discover an ever-changing landscape of star dunes, shifting sands and rock sculptures, camp in the desert, visit historic villages, enjoy local cuisine and learn how the locals have adapted to life in these harsh conditions.
In mean while the north part of Iran and also Central Mountain of Iran, Zagros Mountain provided a great opportunity for off-road in the nature and in the mountain. The Hyrcanian Forests is an area of lush lowland and montane forests covering about 55,000 square kilometres (21,000 sq mi) near the southern shores of the Caspian Sea of Iran and Azerbaijan.
The best season for safari in desert is October to April but the prime time for Lut desert is November and December.
The Best places for a desert safari in Iran:
1. Varzaneh desert:
Varzaneh is located in Isfahan Province. Despite the remoteness of this land of sand dunes, there are lots of marvelous sights. Varzaneh is unique among Iranian deserts due to the matchless height of its dunes
2. Mesr desert
Mesr is in the Central District of Khur and Biabanak County in the Isfahan province and 371 km far from Yazd. Yellow sandy hills and dams are the most spectacular Mesr desert section.
3. Maranjab desert
Maranjab Desert is located 60 kilometers of Kashan City in Isfahan Province. In addition to the sand dunes it is close to The Salt Lake which adds to the value of a trip to this destination.
4. Shahdad desert
Shahdad Desert is 100 Kilometers from Kerman. Shahdad desert are a part of bigger desert, Lut desert. Autumn is the best time to travel to Shahdad desert.
